I love this. This is my vibe. Walking through mist-covered mountains makes me happy.

I'm taking a vacation this week to some backpacking on the Benton MacKay Trail #BMT, so I decide to take a break from my #ADHD meds. It's only Saturday, and I'm already doing this. I just remembered that I'm off my meds and both @Leahgashe and I had an aha moment.

You know some dumbass right-wing corporate policy wonk is trying to make someone revise the name of a document to the “Super Intelligence Acceptable Use Policy” and try to force everybody to sign it.
This is what we get when Google and Apple capitulated and listed The Gulf of America on their maps. It never stops at one stupid thing. It keeps on going.
Today's status:
Microsoft filed a patent to add surge pricing and context-based lockouts to game consoles, so they can monetize every action you take.
We should've set fire to the person who first suggested horse armor as a DLC.
This is fucked, yo.
#Neurodivergent security pros who don't feel valued at work: 28% job satisfaction.
Those who strongly feel valued: 87%.
That's a 59-point swing, compared with 46 points for everyone else. Passion isn't the problem (79% vs 81%). Feeling valued is.
Yes, it's a survey and correlation isn't causation. But making your team feel valued is free, so why wouldn't you?

Are you in Incident Response? You may want to review your malware response plans.
"When the malware has a GitHub token, it installs a small service called gh-token-monitor. Every 60 seconds, for up to 24 hours, the service checks that token against the GitHub API. If GitHub rejects it, the service runs rm -rf ~/ (or a PowerShell delete of your user profile on Windows). So the obvious first move, revoking the token, is what sets it off."

With a heavy heart it seems that Darren Martyn aka pwnsauce from LulzSec has died. I considered him a friend & had the privilege of spending time with him irl, he was sharp, kind, funny & a pleasure to chat with. His family are asking for privacy but I know Darren was very proud of the volunteer
It's not every day that someone you have a Lego Mini-figure of passes away.
Rest in Peace, Margaret Hamilton

I wish cars had a odometer for horn presses. How many toots has your car had?
Oh no!
"Margaret Hamilton, a profoundly influential computer scientist best known for leading the software engineering team at MIT during NASA’s Apollo program, died on Sep. 30. She was 90.
A computing pioneer who authored over 130 publications, Hamilton helped to establish software engineering as a dedicated discipline."
We all remember her from these iconic pictures.

Microsoft Teams once again outperformed by a 1970’s-era cleartext radio protocol. Put ACARS in the magic quadrant for real time collaboration as a leader, you cowards.

We think we belong here. The people around us aren't so sure. That gap is what my BSides talk was about.

"We can't afford accommodations."
Most of them cost $0.
Employers who contacted the Job #Accommodation Network reported:
- 61% cost nothing
- 33% were one-time, median $300
- 6% had an ongoing cost
We're talking headphones. Written follow-ups after meetings. Moving someone's desk away from the printer.

Most workplace accommodations cost nothing. Asking for one is the hard part.
This account is here to help with that. #Introduction
I'm @Xavier, after 30+ years in #infosec I'm turning my BSides Atlanta talk "Performing Normal" into bite-sized, sourced posts: the research, the myths, and exactly how to ask for what you need. I plan on keeping the research and recommendations going well after I publish my current content.
