This study among Spanish healthcare workers found more long Covid in females, those with reinfections, and those who had multiple types of vaccines (not just Pfizer).

This study from Luxembourg had a very small sample (N = 224), but they found that more infections lead to more long Covid symptoms and more vaccinations led to fewer of these symptoms.

This US study has made the headlines. Omicron reinfections in children and adolescents doubled the risk of long Covid.

The results from this Canadian healthcare worker study may be confusing, because it suggests lower long Covid risks with reinfections.
The per infection risk in this study was lower for reinfections, but those with more infections had more long Covid.
Other risk factors for long Covid were infections with pre-Omicron variants and more severe acute infections.

This Danish finds extremely low long Covid rates (around 1%), but also finds that there is more long Covid for documented reinfections.

More research is coming out on the effects of reinfections on the risk of long Covid (or PASC).
While the samples are often small, and lots of long Covid may be missed, studies all point to that reinfections increase the risk of long Covid.
For example, in this study from New York, more long Covid was found in those with more documented Covid infections, more severe infections, and those not vaccinated before the first infection.

Rob Wust op de radio over zijn onderzoek naar spierfunctie bij Long Covid en ME.
(Dutch interview).
Estimates from the literature are that between 5% and 50% of Covid infections lead to long term (> 3 months) symptoms. There must be a lot of recovery if only 3%-5% has lingering symptoms. Did they account for drop-out of the more serious cases?
Not sure how they are going to stop GOF research elsewhere in the world.

Reducing your risk of serious illness is not only about diet, exercise and routine screenings. Preventing COVID infections can also be an important part of protecting your long-term health.
COVID can affect multiple systems throughout the body and has been associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cognitive problems, immune dysfunction and Long COVID. These effects can occur after infections that initially seemed mild and the risk may increase with repeated infections

COVID levels may be lower right now, but this is exactly when prevention can make the biggest difference.
Wastewater data shows that COVID often follows a pattern of major seasonal waves. By layering protections early, wearing N95s, improving indoor air, testing, and staying home when sick, we can help slow a summer surge before it builds.
