So I called the IRS.
The IVR told me that my wait would be 30 to 60 minutes. No callback option! Seriously!

Perfect time to try an iPhone feature I’ve never used, wherein it monitors the hold music for me and notifies me when someone picks up.

My call was on hold for an hour before someone picked up. But I was in a video call, so I wasn’t able to join the call and the agent hung up after a few seconds.

The second try: I was on hold for 90 minutes before someone picked up. Once again I was in a video call. Same outcome.

So apparently I need to block off a 2 hour window for this phone call!
