  they will poison their punch to kill their enemy. Their enemy is also confusion. In complex systems, there are no simple answers. That makes people with savior complexes lost, because their divine agency of guns and loyalty and providence disintegrate. It makes their egos explode. So they fight it. An ego death is a death, and Republicans need it to be at most 1983 to live, so they fight anything post Regan with an existentially threatened metabolism.

  But, because the reagents need agents, the Dems are cast by the eternally emotional, by the children powers that be, as the Enemy, as the profane, the usurper, the unholy. Whether or not Dems are those things (they fell on swords decades ago and try to fight with the lances lodged in their own inner beings), they don’t have even the rhetorical skill to assuage from other to adjacent, or to actually fight. They are a party of piñatas who can’t get off the hook, because their hooks are bad.
