    @mcc "noreply@anthropic.com" - that takes some fucking brass.

    And they're talking about dropping the attribution requirement for the kernel.

    @Orb2069 @mcc I'm surprised they ever thought "co-authored-by" was a good idea; you want to grant authorship --- and all the rights that it entails --- to... a competitor? That's trying to put you out of business?

    Lolwut?

    And that's ignoring the whole "our co-author stole a bunch of IP" problem.

    @mcc @aspensmonster @Orb2069 already happening. some projects explicitly reject this as a matter of ontological correctness (claude is not sentient and thus “not an author”) which I understand philosophically but disagree with strategically.

    @mcc @aspensmonster @Orb2069 your “competitor” here already has logs that can show this attribution if that’s a legal strategy they want to pursue, obscuring it for yourself removes the records you need for a climb-down if _you_ want to eliminate one

    @glyph

    That assumes they're not 'watermarking' (which, IIRC, is just setting a nonrandom seed?) and waiting for the right supreme court ruling to declare their TOS overrides the GPL because (correctly or not) the kernel is 51% their product.
