some people try to reassure me about ai by saying that local models will come along and save us from the big cloud companies.

but i have questions: who's training these local models? what are they trained on? is it still costly to train them (both €€€ and environment)? can i run it on my laptop? can i run it on my phone?

but no one has answers. if anyone does have ideas for these please do let me know (i'd love to receive some good news for a change)
