Sep 19, 2026, 3:38 PMbeen working on cellpond's sequel quite a lot recently.. the new engine runs on paper, processed by your brain and hands. really quite excited about this. bringing crafts to the simulation, combined with some animation and lots of primary-school-style cutting and sticking. hoping i can get a workshop ready for alpaca or something

Sep 19, 2026, 5:56 PM@chrisamaphone note: these are unlike most CAs like the game of life because these are *asynchronous* CA, whereas game of life is synchronous (ie: all updates happen simultaneously in game of life)
@TodePond huh, i'd actually use the opposite words to describe those two behaviors (by analogy with (a)synchronous programming), but i can see why it works your way too!
what order are you processing the cells? left to right top to bottom?
