Having to register to vote is just a way of disenfranchising voters, the marginalized especially.
It's wild you even have to do that.

like.
it was used to keep denying black people the vote. it is actively used to deny the homeless from voting. etc.
@navi@catcatnya.com ...how else are they supposed to know where to send the ballots?
@navi@catcatnya.com here registering is super easy, but i guess it's not the same in every state
@ielenia @navi@catcatnya.com in Finland you don't need to register to vote and they don't send the ballots themselves to you (unless you, for example, can't leave home). they send every > 18 year old the voting instructions, including a form which you use for pre-voting. you get the ballot at either the voting place or the pre-voting place.
the ballots used in Finland are also much simpler, just a piece of paper with a circle, that you put a number in for the candidate you vote for.
Lumi
@navi here in germany, you just... get mail from the government. with where your voting location is and everything.
if they can figure out where you live and who your are for tax reasons, they should be able to do the same for democracy reasons.
