the electron runtime is several hundred megabytes. the entirety of macintosh system 7.5.5 is about 75MB, and mini vmac is 164KB. if you want to ship a cross-platform native experience, you've got options
I've turned off auto updates on #grapheneOS because there is no such thing as ethical or acceptible slop in "secure" software.
@GrapheneOS has turned itself into an untrustworthy joke. This, I didn't see coming.
"Drink this, it's good for you. Everyone drinks it."
"No way, that's fucking Draino!"
"No, it's something different. Don't worry. Have a gulp!"
"If I even take a sip of that poison, I will permenantly burn the lining of my esophagus and more."
"Look, I've been chugging this stuff for months, and all the blood I excrete is caused by the covid vaccine, actually."
*self-raptures*

If you think having a lil slop in all the world's important software if fine actually, you are wrong. Dead wrong. You will see.
I guess maybe it was this? I didn't hear a peep about this. Jesus...
I wonder what the first accidental [edit: non-military] mass casualty event caused by "ai" will be. Errant bombing? Collapsed bridge? Drinking water poisoning? Mass highway pileup?
There's probably a polymarket bet for this.
The longer we let this go on the higher the stakes will be.
Are you a fan of LLMs? Just go ahead and block me to save me time from blocking you, please and thanks.
When almost all of us say we are "against 'ai'", we are talking about corporate LLMs and other nefarious usages, and not the non-labour-thieving ML stuff used in STEM.
Hope this helps clear things up for you.
I have decided to shut down my #mastodon instance, and all my public facing web services.
This will happen in 3 months time, on November 29, 2026, to allow everyone to backup and migrate.
The reason for this is that I can no longer trust:
- the #Linux kernel
- #Debian
- rails
- most #Foss projects
Additionally, I'm basically out of storage, it is unaffordable to purchase more, and no one is interested in donating to help.
Our bastion of free computing has been poisoned by fascist gen ai slop, and basically NONE of it can be trusted anymore.
It's impossible to vet slop from an ecosystem that is welcoming of it.
This makes it nearly impossible to update my systems, which makes it harder to pretend it's even remotely secure.
I'm fucking devestated - gutted by what has happened to computing, and I just do not have the resources to keep fighting.
Fuck all you #LLM boosters into the sun. May you learn the folly of your way and DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT!
That "Linux is best" guy sucks.
Shitty people with shitty opinions being inconvenienced by the results of their own inactions.
Cry me a river, you little baby.

So while I was on my 7ish year guitar hiatus, my favourite guitar pick has changed brand names from "Brain" to "Cat Tongue". They're otherwise identical.
Oh, except they're $2.00/ea which is approximately 4 times as much as I ever remember paying for a standard pick. Fun!
Another example of end-stage capitalism griding you down.
Forbes has removed their leaky API I relied on to stay informed of the realtime billionaires list.
I need to know why they are on there. What transactions lead up to this? Then I can follow that back through the trail of destruction.
It saves me time.
I have #MECFS via #LongCovid, and so I have very little energy. I also live in a covid-denying society where I have no choice but work my body to death in order to survive. They seem to have made their markup nearly unscrapable, and I just don't have the #spoons right now to figure out a workaround.
If anyone is hip to a daily data source of the billionaires I am all ears! Just one small pull a day from a single user.
That's like... asking for the tip of a hotdog from a Manhattan-sized butcher.*
*Like, the location is literally the size of Manhattan. Probably thousands of actual mutalators would be butchers, there.
If you're looking for a cheap, easy and (hopefully) accessible exercise to improve your grip strength and finger strength, try a cheap #TennisBall with a slit cut into one side. We call them "smileys" at work.
Depending on where you squeeze the ball, you can taylor the resistance to your liking.
I've been carrying one around in my hoodie pocket when I walk to work, or when I'm seated and reading.
HUGE improvements in just a couple days.
Total cost: $0.33.
These accounts usually have suspect usernames, and always provide an email address from a domain wired to a common MX, run on european vps.
The tactics in the description change frequently. This is the first time I've seen a band used as a cover.
They sure didn't bother with whitespace.
Heads up: the bot farmers are scraping #mastodon and pretending to be the owners of small artist accounts.
I have confirmed with the owner of the mastodon account that it was not them who applied.
