I was saying to people that we have sitting on our desks the sort of creative leverage that the Beatles in their prime could not have dreamed of, for less than the price of the van (Neil Aspinall's) that drove them to their gigs.
Clearly, blasting away the barriers to entry meant an explosive creative renaissance was imminent.
Instead we got 99c per track, paid subscriptions, platforms, algorithms, and influencers.

@katyswain I often think that the last 20 years have just been capital realizing how badly it fucked up by letting us have computers. Smart phones, cloud computing, and now LLMs are just capital trying to correct the mistake they made in the 80s and 90s by selling everyone a powerful means of production with a relatively reasonable one time cost.
