@alexwild There is a native thistle in Maryland that some native plant fans were trying to bring back, and one of the reasons is that it flowers after the spring flowers and before the summer flowers. Haven't heard how that is going but it is a beautiful plant (much less spiky than other thistles which is part of why we thought it would be good for gardens not just habitat restorations).
