Oct 6, 2026, 7:11 PMLegitimately my biggest worries are audio and video. I was not able to get far enough with NetBSD before my only means of networking stopped functioning to test things like audio. I also found out my networking went kaput when trying to install the package that let me use other screen resolutions... apparently you are locked to 1024x768 until you install an extra package that SHOULD BE something included in core??

Huh? I've never heard of this. Can't even imagine what the package would be
Oct 7, 2026, 4:58 PM@netbsd In retrospect it was probably from me misreading the guide. xrandr would not let me change to anything that wasn't 1024x768, and arandr was suggested to be used instead.
I think the real issue is that I need the drm subsystem enabled since I have an Intel Arc A770
Oct 7, 2026, 10:52 PM@techokami Yes, in the case that your resolution is predetermined by the firmware, you follow these steps. https://wiki.netbsd.org/tutorials/x11/how_to_use_wsfb_uefi_bios_framebuffer/
