@eschaton and all these years I was blissfully ignorant of what it was. They seemed like libertarian people that liked bitcoin without understanding how currencies work, so I mostly ignored them

@eschaton ai safety is an actual real research topic on CS, what you probably seen is the astroturf campaign made by tech billionaires that dominates the media, it's so bad rn that you have to go to page 7 of google results to find the actual discussion. It's very similar to the fossil fuel campaigns in 80s but turn to 11
