You all should really give the Nazi bar another shot, it’s so much fun. They have Quizzlings trivia night every Sunday
@jwz we could come up with a compromise. We won’t “tax wealth” if they agree that borrowing against it is “realizing gains”. We’re just trying to close a loophole.
I think it’s a mistake to promise them a “one time tax”. That’s bullshit. They should get taxed every year like all the common people.

I didn’t know The King’s Trust made sound cards.
Mom: What's with these AIs escaping and hacking people?
Me: You park your car at the top of a hill. You leave a note on the dashboard that says "please be good" and then you pull the parking brake. The car careens down the hill, smashes everything up, and you put out a press release saying "My car ignored my instructions! It hallucinated! It went rogue!" Your insurance company not only believes you, but invests $100 million in your company.

Open Source hot take: A software project is allowed to be *done*. Not everything needs to add features or rewrite things. You can just be happy with functionality and focus on just maintainance. "Maintenance mode" is not always bad but can just show a mature product.
I have the sudden desire for a TUI Mastodon client that mimics IRC, and uses hashtags as “channels”
Do you remember
My "Future of Desktop UX (part 2)" talk at #KDE Akademy is now up and it's racking up lots of views. I'm excited people want to discuss this more.
Now I just need someone with Wayland experience to help me prototype this.

💔 FBI Warns ICE Agents Not to Trust Any Woman Willing to Date Them

Look, listen: I'm never, ever saying that you should use LLMs. Fuck no. If you don't want to, then you shouldn't ever have to. Anyone who tries to force you should be fired. Out of a cannon. Into a brick wall.
What I'm saying is not that you should use them. I'm saying you need to make your peace with the fact that they're going to continue to exist and be used by others. Insulting and degrading people for using tools you eschew is not going to do anyone any favours, it won't win any converts, it won't undo any of the damage. All it will accomplish is reduce the number of people who like you.

This was a fun read: https://pogueman.substack.com/p/125-tests-of-the-new-ai-siri
I did the equivalent of # 25 when itemizing a hotel bill for an expense report yesterday—needed to average each of the room rates, taxes, and tourism fees, which were different for each of the 5 nights—and Siri was able to pick out the lines and give the the right averages.
