So it looks like I don't hasve to figure out how to get 3 crates of beer in my luggage over to Montreal
It's sad that I won't be able to attend ConFoo but such is life. 🤷

Is this the right time to promote PHP-Usergroups?
Looks like a lot of people are suddenly interested in PHP and there are actually a lot of meetings in different towns across the globe that have just this single one topic: PHP
A place to gain knowledge and get to know other nerds!
Looking for a place near you? Check out https://php.ug - and if you don't find one near you, head over to phpc.chat and look for the #usergroup channel. We'll find a way!
Can I just push out a HUGE
THANK YOU
to @thephpf for setting up and supporting a Security Team that helps with handling CVEs in PHP!
Thank you! Thank you ! Thank you!
And of course also Thank you to everyone that helps with fixing security issues behind the curtains!
If you are earning money with PHP and are affected by todays CVE mitigation release -
Now would be the best time to start supporting the PHP Foundation!
And ....
> a negative leap second has not previously been applied, and it is considered to pose a high risk of causing anomalies and disruption to critical infrastructures that are largely unprepared, and the preparation would create, for the industries that rely on time synchronization, a need for financial investment, whose amount is estimated to be similar to their preparations for the millennium bug,
This is BTW a great way to avoid the huge problem of a negative leap-second that seems to become more and more likely....
The huge problem created by programmers that believe that a UTC-Day has 86400 seconds.
If it has more we just wait a second.
That's going to get messy when there are suddenly only 86399 seconds... 😱
So. No leap seconds any more.
Instead of keeping UT1 and GMT at max one second off each other that offset can now become up to one hour.
Which means... No more leap seconds for the forseeable future.
And someone else can then tackle the issue with that leap-hour in .... about 150,000 years....
Here I am. Figuring out the mess with time in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Inuvik and Vancouver starting 1st of November.
With a distro that ships a 3 month old timezone-database for the system, a 3 year old timezone database for the internationalisation and an at least as old translation file that doesn't know "Alberta Time" yet...
And what shall I say.... I *am* having fun!
(Also I might be able to help *you* with such a mess - feel free to drop me a line for a quote)
TIL that - acording to wikipedia - Bluetooth is actually named after Harald Bluetooth, danish and norwegian king of the 8th century.... 😱
And the Bluetooth logo is actually the runes for H and B combined....
If you don't believe me: Check out wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harald_Bluetooth
I do remember my granny telling me that she was able to cross the river rhine by foot when she was young.
I fear that I might be able to do the same in 10 years time.
Though she did that in winter on ice I'll be able to do that in summer...
We are down to -19
That means that the depth of the waterway for ships is 1,40m ...
At Kaub in the scenic Middle Rhine Valley the gauge is at 10. Which means that the waterway is 1,30m deep.
This is not just a hot summer.
Wow. I grew up near a city directly at the river rhine.
It has an official gauge for the river rhine.
The lowest known value of that gauge was 2cm recorded in 2018.
Today the official value is -5cm....
