This is amazing, @PaniczGodek

“If you don’t use AI you’re going to get left behind.”

Gosh, I sure hope so. I see where you’re going and it sucks.

It may not look like much, but this has taken me several hours, and I've learnt a lot more z88dk C development for the #RC2014.

This is my RC2014 Z80 computer reading a BME280 sensor to get the current temperature and printing it out to the console.

I now need to find some time to write this all up.

#RetroChallenge

Making progress on my #Commodore64 #COBOL program...

I was watching HIGNFY and had to screenshot this from the French riots. It's the "this is fine" meme, live action version.

Chillin out with a talk video about what's going on with projects. Geeking out about Amiga, good times, M-Vave FM-1, my new sampler and more.

#FollowerPower : For an office team #chat and (internal and external) video call software, kinda replacing Slack and Zoom for an organisation that already uses #Nextcloud for file sharing, editing and other things, which one would you choose?

(Must be #FOSS, explanations as reply welcome.)

Quote post with the first video game you remember playing!

A Pong style console, circa 1981/1982?

But the first I really remember has been Melbourne House’s The Hobbit. First game I ever got for the C64, loved it (and it came with a paperback copy of the book! 😍).

... running #freebsd and #bhyve to install a #netbsd #vm - feeling like a king ... 👑

I just mindcoded (hahahaha) a small python utility to find all actions done on a package with apt.

useful to know when your php was updated.

I can share if that is of interest for anyone of you.

edit: did the same for dpkg since apt will miss manually installed packages.

The way I see it is a simple economic trade-off. PHP was, 30 years ago, a breath of fresh air, and around Y2K it was showing a different way to do things that produced real value. In the early 2000s with the rise of blogging PHP became a powerful tool in the arsenal. There was a real and rational economic reason to use PHP for a variety of systems, there was nothing wrong with that. Worked well enough within certain constraints, was easy to deploy, and it made possible a whole class of applications which otherwise would have never existed.

PHP, just like other languages, evolved, made things better for developers and for their users, who became millions, and in the case of Facebook –then an enthusiastic PHP user– billions.

But things never stay the same forever, cross-pollination is a good thing, and there will always be a new language capable of using a broader palette of behaviour more efficiently, more safely, and with greater clarity.

And then new economic realities ensue, and a system that is better adapted to respond to a current reality becomes more economically sound.

All of this is expected, nothing comes as a surprise. This is not about aesthetics, or losing track of pointers, or being unable to iterate a tree properly.

This is about the fact that economic choices work until they don't anymore.
