Sally Rooney had to cancel a trip to England to collect a book award, to avoid being arrested for terrorism under the UK Labour party's legislation against protest about Palestine.

Now her novels are being withdrawn from sale in the UK to protect her publisher from being prosecuted for funding terrorism.

She is also at risk of prosecution if she attends any literary event in Derry, Belfast or anywhere else in the six counties/NI.

I am shocked by the news from UCD Archaeology that Dr. Rena Maguire passed away in the early hours of yesterday after a short illness.

She made great contributions to the understanding of early Irish history, and communicated her love of it with humour and enthusiasm. She was a lovely person as anyone who chatted with her on social media can attest to.

She is survived by her mother and daughter. My thoughts are with them and her many friends and colleagues.

‘Romano and Papastefanaki argue that women have largely been erased from the history of mining. Their obscurity in the record carries over to the invisibility of the many women who work in mining today, often in “the worst and most precarious conditions.”’

Nicholson gave a sermon at a religious meeting in Portadown with "his trousers tucked up to his knees and with his arms and chest bare…. his audience was amazed until the preacher explained that he was only exemplifying the modern girl as she appeared to others wearing armless frocks and low-cut necks’”
