When the cataloger of our fabulous new miniature books collection comes by and asks, “Do you want to see something pretty?” you say yes.

I think I'm leaning towards option 3. But oooboy I'm not loving the travel logistics. Amtrak will get me to Vancouver at (hypothetically) 5pm or 10pm. Which means I'll likely have to get a hotel room in Vancouver before moving on to Squamish. Which mean $$ for the hotel and another day on the trip (and more money for the dog sitter). I thought there might be a ferry but I'm not finding one.

I bought some dried shiitakes and I'm making my own mushroom jerky right now. TBD if it's gonna work as jerky but damn does it smell good.

Option 1($$$$): I can get one of these suites for $150/night (reduced rate, owner is a friend of the instructor): https://www.mtnfunbasecamp.com/lodge-suites-cabins . But $150/night for two weeks adds up! And no pets allowed so I gotta pay for a dogsitter for 2 weeks at $100/night

Option 2($): I can drive up in my truck (vs. train/bike) and camp at that campground for $25/night. Dogs can camp with me and stay in truck during class time.

Option 3 ($$): Still camp, but train/bike up and pay for dog sitter.

Query: You're going to an expensive out-of-town 2 week seminar/class with an instructor you admire in a remote resort town. Class is small and lodging is definitively NOT provided. Do you splurge on a decent hotel room/cabin? Or do you rough it in a tent to save money?

I'm attending a framebuilding class in Squamish, BC in March and need to figure out lodging YESTERDAY.

I want to make sure I don't accidentally sabotage any of these. Can anybody point me a guide to help me be careful so these things are always fully operational?

Emailed them, fwiw. Shouting into the wind but damnit, maybe I felt like I had to do SOMETHING.

coming to the conclusion that i need more enrichment in my enclosure

Another terrific sunset over the mouth of the Columbia River last night, long one too that changed over its half-hour course. #AltText

40% of *everything being shipped everywhere on Earth* is fossil fuels

Just an absolute laughing-stock clown-show of an energy source. This is laughably absurd, why do we treat this like it's normal and good

i wonder if there is a relationship between being really good at repairing things and also being comfortable with things being kinda broken or in disrepair

Hopefully you’re all in love with me by now, or else what's the point of all this

While I'm complaining about things, who came up with those terrible animations on dvd box sets and what's their address? I have a question for them. Well, it's more of a comment really.

I'm so mad I'm thinking of sending an email to these assholes <shakes fist>

TFW you buy something labeled as flavored "sparkling water" and it turns out to have fucking stevia in it. 🤮 Motherfuckers, that's fucking diet soda. Not sparkling water

If you use Bumble I'd recommend finding a different dating service and deleting your prior data if you don't use it now, as it sounds likely it is being purchased for AI training data.

"Dating app Bumble has been bought for $1.3bn (£980m) in what the new owners called "a bet on the future of humanity"."
