Another terrific sunset over the mouth of the Columbia River last night, long one too that changed over its half-hour course. #AltText

A long ship, probably carrying wood chips to Asia, passes under rust red and golden skies as it leaves the Columbia River into the ocean just after sunset. It is seen from a hill on the north bank, tree tops in the bottom of the photo.
Pinkish red and orange colors in sort of a sideways V shape glow above the ocean as the sun sets into the horizon. It is seen from a hill with trees and an old fort building in the foreground.

@GPJohnston yep in the north cascades! It’s between the Kootenay River and Invermere on this map. It’s so small it’s unbelievable that our big river comes out of it!!!!

@GPJohnston absolutely. my novella is about blowing up a fictional dam on this river because some research I did about the Grand Coulee Dam during law school made me so mad

@Recalcitrant It killed the run of huge summer Chinook that sustained the Kettle Falls fishery and several tribes for thousands of years. Not to mention downstream fisheries at Priest Rapids, Celilo Falls and at the mouth. Still has no fish passage facilities!

@GPJohnston yep! I consider it my enemy!!!!!! But made up a different dam for my characters to blow up 😅😅😅 plus fake bomb building methods. So no one can accuse me of actually planning to blow up the grand coulee :P

@GPJohnston in my opinion it violates the treaties because what was agreed upon was WILD fish. hatchery fish are not the same. No one at the time of signing would have thought they were agreeing to hatchery fish and a vastly reduced fish stock!!!!! Or the flooding of sacred places!!!! >:(
