Go visit the Balkan. It is ridiculously pretty. You might want to do it by car, though. Even if there were railways, they’d be down in the valleys. The most stunning views are from a small side road that precariously clings to a far up mountain side to get to some narrow pass.
@partim I'm aiming to visit Sarajevo and Mostar next year, catching a bus in from Serbia then taking the train.
@timrichards @partim that train is the obvious exception, and it's unbelievable.
Oct 21, 2026, 4:51 AM@timrichards We couldn’t make it that far – the roads are quite slow. We did end up in Bihać and in the Una valley south of it. There technically is a railway there as well, but it is without traffic.
