Seems like at least the account back, but no word from Meta on why this happened. This is why they were so smart of @indivisibleteam build out on platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon & their own direct to their users newsletters too - that are not at the whim of giant big tech.
#Meta needs to give exact and full answer of what the Hell just happened on this critical day of action. #Nokings #NoKingsVoteEarly
@indivisibleteam See this, they STILL do not have access to the account: https://bsky.app/profile/ezralevin.bsky.social/post/3my3tiolgbk2u
@indivisibleteam Update: still no credible answer from Meta: https://www.threads.com/share/BAW-HZIBWj/
@tchambers @indivisibleteam I wonder why.
@tchambers @indivisibleteam Good to hear that some people are doing that. Not basing your dissident org on a bleeding security wound like Meta is not so much impressive, as a basic prerequisite before you get to be taken seriously.
@tchambers @indivisibleteam so, trying to use douchebag techbro billionaire owned socmedia platforms to protest #DTBO take over of our democracy doesn't work, because it goes against the wishes of DTBOs?!?!?
Wild.
If only there were #SocialMedia platforms that were truly decentralized and NOT corporate owned, huh. 🤔
To their crecdit they were very early to adopt the open social web for that very reason:
Politicians from both parties are passing laws to make decentralized social media illegal.
Thereby forcing everyone to use Meta platforms, where their content will be deleted and/or they will be banned, at Meta's sole discretion.
Because decentralized social media is not “safe” for “children”.
@faraiwe @tchambers @indivisibleteam
However, that decentralized media needs financial support.
Stux, for example, could use some help.
@Npars01 @tchambers @indivisibleteam I, for one, donate on the regular, to keep the instance. Have done so on every instance I ever been a member. And am thankful to Stux for what he does.
Corporate ownership is *the* problem.
@tchambers @indivisibleteam hire an admin and run your own website on a Canadian host. You don't need meta
They've got staff doing a lot of thing, but they can't do everything in-house, at least not unless they get sufficient on-going financial support from people like us.
And, there are a LOT of people they need to reach who are not here (or Bsky) to be reached, especially a lot of younger voters.
@joeinwynnewood @davidsaver @tchambers @indivisibleteam How is that working out?
@joeinwynnewood @davidsaver @tchambers @indivisibleteam "Anyone" is a pretty low bar, but yes, there are people in Europe "doing any better", just as there are people in the US "doing any better".
The problem is, I would say, bigger in Europe, since there's the additional problem that we have no democratic power over things happening in the US, making it more problematic to use companies that are subject to US law.
@joeinwynnewood @davidsaver @tchambers @indivisibleteam But here we have an example of an organisation that has been using Zuckerberg services as the main attempt to reach many people, and that has been used against them. It's not a hypothetical, it's something that literally happened.
So I think my question is quite relevant. If the reason for using Instagram is reach, and it turns out you don't have that reach, why did you rely on it?
And what would you suggest the #NoKings coalition (it was their account, not Indivisible's) have done differently to reach people who aren't on Bsky or Mastodon or ...?
@joeinwynnewood @davidsaver It's fine to have an account on Instagram, but why would an anti-Trump movement want to *keep* people there? Why would they not primarily promote other outlets? Don't tell people to get their important information from Instagram.
Use the big company outlets to promote the self-owned outlets: web, email, Mastodon. On the big company outlets, you don't even reach all the people that have *subscribed* to see your posts, because the companies filter it.
They do promote other outlets, granted Mastodon not yet among them - sending them an email on that now - and I'm pretty sure no one is staying on Insta because NoKings is there...
so now we just need to get all of the people who say they're #AntiFascist to stop posting on fascist sites like ex_twitter & threads, and join #Mastodon
to ditch instagram & tiktok for #Pixelfed & #Loops
they choose to give their money & data to the fascists fighting against us. & they always come up w/ excuses for doing so
RE: https://mastodon.nl/@bammerlaan/117376297527235335
@WorldTravelerAll7 @tchambers @indivisibleteam Exactly. And they're aggravating the problem by sticking around, too, by normalising the platform and thereby exposing more people to the right-wing content that's amplified there. Propaganda works.
@tchambers @indivisibleteam if bluesky aren't at the whim of bigtech, then why are they funded by Brock Pierce?

Oct 18, 2026, 3:55 AMDon't hold your breath.
@indivisibleteam @tchambers Everyone knows exactly why it happened. Answers are a moot point. If peeps continue to use a billionaire controlled platform, it'll keep happening.
Everyone knows the answer, they just don't like the answer. They have to ditch the platform, and use something else instead.
And until people do, it'll keep happening.
@tchambers @indivisibleteam yes, we must move off of and become less depended on meta platforms as much as possible.
I wrote about why:
Small correction: Bluesky is Big Tech
