Nope, it's not… so I have two copies of the Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits album… one I bought some time in the late 90s on a CD, the other is a LP I inherited from my mother, purchased some time in the late 80s.

Being the same album, just different formats, they are from the same master tapes, so a good comparison for checking speed. Mick Fleetwood is my timing reference here.

This is a grab from the turntable playing the LP. To my ear, at first it sounds "okay"… if you hadn't heard the song recently from another source it would sound fine… but things are not quite right.

A little bit of the first verse of Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon".

Measuring the time between particular drum strikes, I can work out a correction factor… the LP is playing at about 97.92% of the correct speed. If I speed up the LP (which was recorded at 48kHz) to a sample rate of 49015, it sounds spot on (if you ignore the crackles).

I'll have to see what I'm doing wrong with the bearing… clearly I didn't clean it up right or lubricate it correctly. Annoyingly, I had it right before.
