For those that don't know, the way the advertising system works is when you search for something, the search terms and whatever aggregated information about you are handed to advertisers and they have like 50ms to bid on whether they want to advertise to you, while the results are being aggregated. So this is entirely possible if someone actually thought there would be money for them in doing so.
