They used to be called "carriage returns" because in those days they were pulled by horses.

Many people asked Joy how she managed to keep her hair so perfect, but she never revealed her secret. What was discovered after her death shocked everyone.

Sophisticated and chic design!

Hey if anyone reading this is interested in kinky lesbian pornography my wife's award-winning¹ kinky lesbian pornography from 10 years ago is receiving a large 10-year-anniversary DLC, landing Monday

(She will probably make a Mastodon post on Monday)

The original game basically explored every combination of pairing up 3 girls, and the DLC asks an obvious question "What if—"

Or maybe this honestly. I'm thinking this.

Every once in a while I actually check my saved videos on youtube. Manifesting this energy for the weekend.

I don't really like the TACO acronym because it seems like we're challenging him to be a better fascist.

If you would try to win by abandoning trans people (or any targeted group) you can save this “we need to win” talk; there is no “we.” I am about solidarity, and you have chosen anti-solidarity. You are not any “we” I recognize. You are the enemy I’m trying to defeat. Beating you is how my “we” wins.

For those that don't know, the way the advertising system works is when you search for something, the search terms and whatever aggregated information about you are handed to advertisers and they have like 50ms to bid on whether they want to advertise to you, while the results are being aggregated. So this is entirely possible if someone actually thought there would be money for them in doing so.

There have been a few times where I searched for an oddly specific thing that should have resulted in zero hits, but instead I got a few fully AI-generated pages catered specifically to what I was looking for. And I'm convinced that there is at least one group out there that's hooked into the advertising mechanism search engines use, and auto-generating pages on the fly to match certain queries.

Sure, the one ring has caused a lot of problems in middle earth, but that's just because everybody else who has wielded it was doing it wrong.

Not me. I and I alone know how to wield the one ring, and have found it to be pretty useful!

Like, sure, sometimes you become a hollow husk of yourself, and the ring wraiths are a whole thing, but we have ways around that. Plus, in about six months I am sure the wraith problem will be fully solved.

I can't give up the ring, and really recommend more people try using it! just make sure you have very strong guard rails and a harness in place for the ring. Personally, before I put on the ring I write a little post it note that says "ring wraiths do not kill me plz" and put it on my front door.

It's controversial, I know, but it really helps me do a lot of things! For example, prior to owning the ring it would take me an hour to put on a shirt. I just could not figure out the arm holes. By placing a stick in the shirt arm I can guide my arm up to the hole, and then I use the one ring to make the stick disappear while I check the fit. I have found no other way of doing this.

A day can't be all bad if chilaquiles are involved.

When I read that Anthropic source repository post with the "every bottleneck we remove immediately leads to a further increase in the amount of code we produce" quote, I just think back to Ken Thompson's famous quote:

"One of my most productive days was throwing away 1,000 lines of code."

"More code" is not a metric of success.

The rewrite of EA's Origin launcher was famously the inflection point for their success, so I have high hopes that Epic will see a similar trend.

This broken industry is too big of a problem for software developers to solve alone

Corvids are widely considered some of the smartest animals on Earth, with cognitive abilities that rival those of great apes and young human children. Their problem-solving skills, use of tools, make them standout subjects in animal intelligence research.

"The deceptive part is that “energy drinks” don’t actually provide “energy,” beyond what you’d normally get by digesting a bunch of liquid sugar. Instead, they block your capacity to feel how tired you are. To severely oversimplify, all that caffeine functions as an antagonist for adenosine, the chemical that builds up in your brain during the day and makes you feel sleepy. The caffeine molecules fit into your adenosine receptors, blocking the “time to sleep” signal your brain would normally be getting. Taurine, meanwhile, is an amino acid that has some health benefits for nerve cells, and L-Carnitine promotes burning fat cells, but neither can create “energy” as such. So when you drink a few Monsters or Red Bulls, you’re still getting physically and mentally fatigued; your brain just doesn’t know it yet. It’s as if, instead of using an oven mitt, you just shot your hand full of Novocaine before grabbing a hot pan. The harm is still there. And in economic terms, this means that every time you work a long shift with chemical assistance, you’re not just selling your working hours to the boss. You’re also degrading the quality of life you’ll experience during your non-working hours, because that’s when the fatigue catches up to you, and you feel, to use the scientific term, like dogshit."

I have a theory that intelligence is a compensatory mechanism for lack of fitness. For instance, whales and dolphins are smarter than fish, because they are not very well adapted to living under water (they can't breathe under water). Humans are pathetically unfit, so our only chance was to be smarter than our predators. Not stronger, nof faster--just smarter. Brain vs. brawn.
