@Arusekk I mean... that sounds neat and all, but I neither do anything with microscopes, nor do I know enough about them to have a meaningful discussion about the topic...

I'm a software/security guy, so anything from hardware features to software design would interest me, so long as it has some intellectual value. But hardware news is all just "we increased memory bandwidth for AI, and also decreased RAM because AI made it too expensive", while software news is mostly just "I vibecoded 3 tools this weekend". I guess there was a talk about hacking the Xbox One early this year, that was very interesting even though I don't think I'll ever own an Xbox. I know Apple recently shipped a new compression algorithm that they claim can outperform even LZMA. That'd be very interesting to know about, but it's too new to expect that just yet. And yeah, then there was the FEX post. Last year there was also a long video by the project lead of Audacity, on how they're planning and structuring Audacity 4, which I found very interesting... but damn such things have gotten rare. :/

@siguza Then maybe the signal gets lost in the noise. Maybe some of my projects (on my blog) would be interesting to you? I tend to stray pretty far away from the mainstream focus.

Recently other people also discovered things like regressive JPEGs. You probably have not muted enough boring news sources/keywords.
