How do you get a keyboard whose keys don't flake out and just sporadically stop responding to presses? All I can do is throw more money into a random ergonomic keyboard and have it flake out too. And nobody even cares to bump this sort of thing. Fucking sucks. #depressed

I type for most of most days kind of, all on laptop keyboards, and I've never had one flake out in any way that began after I received the computer.

(I do baby my things though)

((and also I rotate through a modest little collection of laptops from the last 20 years somewhat often. Which probably reduces the rate of wear. But yeah thats my experience good luck)

@em @cy I was gonna say, yeah, a previous laptop I used continually for ten years without the keyboard going bad, I've been using my Keychron K3 on my laptop dock continually for at least six years with no issues as well

I have a Keychron Q11, that's given me no end to trouble. I thought I could configure it in Linux, turns out the M1-5 keys and the twiddle knobs are unconfigurable, and completely disabled by default. Can't even remap them. The worst thing is there is no End key, and a conspicuous blank where they COULD have put one.

Might be I just have to clean my keyboard. I swear there are crossed wires though. The stupid "rainbow LCD" key combo (which I also can't configure) will fail to turn off the first time, for a few of the diodes, and needs a second on/off sequence to do it.

@cy Hmm, the remapping issues is a different thing and not really resolvable unfortunately. But I dunno, my Keychron has been treated pretty rough (small spills, pretty filthy with pet hair, I've dropped heavy stuff on it enough to mar the key caps) and everything is still reliable other than the USB-C connector can come loose pretty easily

I want... people to see a friend who genuinely needs help, and think "I can't help them, but I can at least boost it." The normal way people seem to think is more along the line of "I can't help them, so it's not my place to boost it," which is exactly opposite to how this social network operates.

So like... seeing my posts boosted when I'm asking for advice would make me feel better, but I want that to happen to everyone, even if nothing I post ever gets boosted again
