They're coming tomorrow to install municipal Internet. So if you never see me again, it's because I'm rooting for grubs in the ruins of my former home with no Internet access. Otherwise, I should be around again pretty oon. Soon. (My keyboard is till broken.)

#local #news #meta

How do you get a keyboard whose keys don't flake out and just sporadically stop responding to presses? All I can do is throw more money into a random ergonomic keyboard and have it flake out too. And nobody even cares to bump this sort of thing. Fucking sucks. #depressed

Man, fuck you gucharmap. Unchanged for years and years, and now I update, and all the characters are in black and white only. #enshittification #software #FuckEverything

And my eye is stinging every time I close it now. Still. It just keeps happening...

Just listening to a video of a guy who says he has a terrible job and is exhausted from producing videos, and things are getting worse, but don't despair aspiring content creators, because this challenge is surmountable. Everyone in his life offering him so much love and support helped him see that we really have a place, a people, even if Youtube is keeping people from seeing his video. This challenge is surmountable, if we stand together and help each other succeed.

All I could think was "Gee, must be nice to have any support at all."

I'd be dead w/out my mother, and she's uh... very helpful, though not supportive. And also on the poverty line. And that's it. I know some of you are great and I really appreciate your support, but this guy had a long talk with his "other half." He has so much support, he's even got a significant other! I just... don't know how anyone gets to that point. Nobody ever wanted to help me out of the pit, but he got people pulling him right out. What's wrong with me, that instead of pulling me out, people just tell me about visiting their children last weekend and playing with their grandchildren, or their neice's wedding they went to?

"You're looking for someone to work with putting together a gaming rig and doing some video editing? Oh." - someone working full time with their own friends and projects who hardly knows me and doesn't owe me jack shit

I'll say it again, I don't think Donald Trump is Hitler, so much as Kaiser Wilhelm II, the last German Emperor. Wilhelm was an unpopular blowhard with terrible policies, who was so universally hated he was ousted, driven from Germany, and spent the latter half of his life in shame and exile.

And then Chancellor Hitler made his move.

I'm kind of terrified what's going to happen in the USA after Trump.

Ugh, that was too much candy. I need something fibrous to dilute all that sugar.
...
Well, now I feel really healthy! Maybe I can handle a piece of candy!

Oh right, I can just use that one word I thought of the other day, uhh... OK I know it starts with 's'...

Of course right after typing this inspired, galaxy brained rant I immediately find some people playing Minecolonies going "Wait a minute, shouldn't we build their houses next to where they work?" 😖 #fail #HopeForHumanityAfterAll

It's funny there's this Minecraft mod called "Minecolonies" where you hire villagers to perform jobs, like build buildings, chop trees, craft certain blocks, even fish. What I find most interesting about it is that the most efficient way to build your village is to construct each villager's house right next to where they work.

But no one. No one ever does.

Everyone always decides "where the houses are going to be" because you, and I, and everyone under the influence of Western Civilization has lived our entire lives with zoning laws. These laws supposedly are there to prevent people from getting hurt, or poisoned, by a horrible manufacturing plant next to their house, but the purpose of a law is what it does. Cottage industry had to be forcibly destroyed, with sweet words to give them excuses for it, otherwise everyone would have a side hustle operating a business out of their garage. To trap everyone in employment only for big business, they had to convince us to stop working where we lived. That is nearly the entire function of zoning laws, because when big business wants to build next to your house, your neighborhood becomes commercial zoning, and now you're the bad guy. The laws don't stop what the ones creating them claimed they would stop, and instead make people more pliable, helpless servants.

Or, that's as close as I can figure. Buying commercially zoned real estate (hugely more expensive) is the biggest barrier to starting a business. You can't even buy it anymore, as you can see by every closed business with a "For Lease" sign. "For Lease" means some noble owns the land, and you only do business on it with their permission, for a hefty rent of course. So almost nobody owns a brick and mortar store these days, and the Internet obviously hasn't helped with that.

So this bizarre social manipulation means we don't even realize that zoning is bullshit. It's all we've ever known. We never think of doing anything differently. So when you're playing a game like Minecolonies or Timberborn, you naively create residential zones, and then sit there staring stupidly at your colony, wondering why everyone is wasting so much time pathing around. You made your workers into commuters!

It's interesting that granting wishes basically means having control over all possible variations of some region of space. And they say space is 10, or 13 dimensional, with all but 4 dimensions rolled up tightly, and 1 of them "timelike" for whatever reason I can fathom. But if you make the timelike dimension somehow spacelike, you can in theory travel through time just by walking in that direction.

So to grant any wish, all you have to do is make all 13 dimensions spacelike. Then you can find the precise position in that convoluted space in which the wish is granted, and then return the dimensions to their original state.

None of that is possible, and takes a kajillion energies, and is smaller than observable whatever, and if you could you'd just delete all existence because you were a millimeter off target, but it's a neat idea!

Just got a follow request out of the blue from "mikehorn110" at mastodon.social, who speaks French, English and Russian, and has several pictures of an older man engaging in exciting adventures involving trucks, boats and mountains, with photographs in wildly varying undetermined locations. He says "bonjour" to several people unprompted, and when one person responded, he asked where they are located, and when they answered, he said he was looking forward to continuing this conversation with you in a Sincere and Honest atmosphere.

So that's why you're an awful person for using AI to help yourself and instead we need to band together and destroy them.

It seems sad to me, when people build villages in those sandbox building games. People don't build villages together, I mean. One person, playing by themselves, builds a village. All the buildings are just empty and unused, but they still wanted to build them, for people who would never arrive.

That's what puts me off of public servers really, is they're always full of these grand, gigantic building projects whose builder moved on a long time ago, and they just sit there under area protection forever.

Communism is where you take the bad people out of power, and establish libraries, emergency services, schools, public works, food security, and housing for all.

Socialism is where you leave the bad people in power, demand they establish libraries, emergency services, schools, public works, food security, and housing for all, and hope they don't dismantle it all and enslave you again.

I love how when you use a privileged addon with all the privileges to fetch a document, Cloudflare still returns a 403 forbidden, because the fascists running Mozilla added code to prevent anyone from changing a "Sec-Fetch-Dest" header, on the argument that "Sec-" means secure so it needs to be forbidden to makeCloudflareyou more better secure.

Can't emphasize this enough, with a combination of hormones and dietary adjustments you can control your own growth rate. I don't know about transgender or anything, but any parent who isn't informing their child that they get to decide how short they will be is a bad parent, and someone needs to save that kid from them. If you have to be a certain height forever, you ought to at least have some say over what that height is, and there is no other time in your life you can do so. No technology in the universe is going to change your height after puberty.

I mean, there's no shame in being a bad parent. Parenting is hard, and you won't get everything right. But you should accept help from others in that case, if they can help your child in a way you're unable or unwilling to.
