I am only going to address this once this season. Anyone who starts spouting off about how anyone who rakes leaves is an asshole, gets blocked. Here in the US, so few can afford to own homes. Those who can rent homes (and therefore maybe have some yard) usually have it in their lease that they MUST rake it. I am included in this group. If you are so obsessive about this that you can't even consider that some people might have legitimate reasons, you need to take a moment.

@secretsloth do people really give you crap online about raking? Our town practically makes it mandatory. Well, they don't, but they have signs up about leaf collection (which is a whole thing and I HATE it) and the culture here is very Frederick Law Olmstead manicurated lawns.

@artcollisions I just blocked a post that I saw in my feed. I don't get things directed at me, but the post was aggressive, it called people who use leaf blowers "malicious." It's not like raking would be less so for the creatures who rely on leaf cover. I see a number of these posts, and I don't disagree that ideally it would be great to leave things alone. But nowadays when so many people are struggling, the assumption is pretty freaking bold. Not to mention rude.

@artcollisions yeah as if ordering people not to get rid of their leaves is any less bossy just because it's a morally superior stance, it really doesn't help those of us who *literally can't choose.* Not to mention the last house I rented was actually a condo, the yard was handled by the condo association, they had a company come handle the yard work. Literally the land the houses sat on was communally owned. That's very often true with townhouses. So. 🙄 Not even helpfully bossy. Lol
