Bit o real talk here folks. The brain stuff is really unsettling.

To lose most of my access to language, and interpersonal skills (something about not being able to make nuanced decisions on the fly, or have social energy) when I have some kind of an immune flare is weirdly isolating, and vulnerable (literally not being able to speak for myself). And the emotional whiplash of losing/gaining/losing/gaining is rough.

All that to say #wearAMask ya'll #covidIsNotOver and you do not want this.

The electric bill for Sept is over $400. We sheltered family while they had a power outage from an electrical fire for 3 weeks & it kicked the bills way up. They can't afford to pay us back. Please, anything helps. Added late fee. Thank you to who donated so far, it means a lot.

Apparently it's World Mental Health Day. Look out for mentally healthy people blundering about saying unhelpful things like, 'If you ever need to talk, I'm here,' or, 'I notice you sound depressed, have you considered thinking positively?'

Please stop saying this to chronically ill people.

If we went to the hospital every time we suffered, we would live there.

Hospitals can’t help us and they often make us worse.

We are on our own, and being subtly gaslit doesn’t help.

Instead of suggesting we aren’t “that sick” or that there’s care we’re choosing not to get … ask how you can help.

Show genuine concern and a desire to learn about life with chronic illness.

Understand that more often than not an ER trip means setbacks, trauma and no help at all.

I am only going to address this once this season. Anyone who starts spouting off about how anyone who rakes leaves is an asshole, gets blocked. Here in the US, so few can afford to own homes. Those who can rent homes (and therefore maybe have some yard) usually have it in their lease that they MUST rake it. I am included in this group. If you are so obsessive about this that you can't even consider that some people might have legitimate reasons, you need to take a moment.

It's a rugged take on a mountain brook I saw a few autumns ago on a hike.

I carved a handful of lines and used wax resist (that lets the stoneware body show) to make the glazes break and pool in flowy blues and golds. I also used paddling (i.e., I thwacked it 😜) to give the wheel-thrown piece an organic, rock-like shape.
