i've had this irresistible piece of 90s msdos trashware on my shelf for 10 years. softkey international was a shovelware company that you'd find at your local grocery store - i think it began its life as a shareware distributor, before it began selling big box copies of low quality games and applications

i couldn't bear to throw out this boxed copy of Key 3-D Design over the years, and never once thought it had any archival value until today

after a bunch of searches, i couldn't find any copies of SoftKey 3-D Design for DOS online. it's a verrrrrry stripped down CAD program that runs in 640x480 and 16 colours. (there are win16 versions archived online, but not the DOS version)

the rendering algorithm reminds me of Sierra AGI games, painting one face at a time slowwwllyyy 😆

am i the only person that seriously wishes low-res, shit-shaded VRML made a comeback?
