People who know their stuff could've told you 8 years ago that css-in-js was a bad idea. But SV startup bros have to do it anyway because "developer affordance" or something. And then eight years later they get applause for finally admitting it was a terrible idea all along.
I sound like a conspiracy theorist sometimes when I say that mainstream IT is so incredibly dumb and inefficient, but it's all stuff like this but nested like infinite babushkas.
Anyway if your language had actual macros you could have your developer affordances and still just ship precompiled css to the client.
@plexus sadly, the mainstream IT is too much smoke, mirrors and at times strange traditions. Traditions that are just followed with no questions asked. It is understandable, especially in corporate structures, where speaking something not mainstream get you bad points. So you learn to not question a big amount of bullshit.
But It is very infuriating at times when people just follow the stuff without questioning.
