I’m on the academic job market this year! I’m especially interested in positions at primarily undergraduate institutions and other teaching-focused faculty roles. (Computer Science, more specifically programming language design). If you know of departments that are hiring or folks I should connect with, I’d love to hear from you!
Oct 5, 2026, 9:44 PM@sophiaroshal what is your research focus? (assuming PL? but in case not/you're on intersections, Reed College is hiring a systems faculty this year https://www.reed.edu/dean_of_faculty/facsearch/positions/assistant-professor-tenure-stream-faculty-position-in-computer-systems.html )
@atsuzaki Thank you! I saw that listing, and still trying to decide if my
research falls into the "broadly construed" part of that listing (I am generally quite PL focused) :)
Oct 17, 2026, 2:55 AM@sophiaroshal @atsuzaki Oh shit, Reed mention! (I'm a student here.) Obviously I know nothing, but I don't think you'd be the least systems-y candidate who's interviewed. (A subset of the candidates give talks as part of the process, hence my statement.) I'd encourage applying; we love types here (:.
Geology?
@ElwoodCity
Computer Science (Programming Languages), sorry! I should have included that in the original post!
@sophiaroshal France should offer a fair number of (permanent) assistant professor positions next year.
They will be posted on the „Operation postes” website, on https://postes.smai.emath.fr .
Don't hesitate to contact CS departments already now, for example @IRIF is on this network, because they might already know about the availability of positions.
