Are there any #COVID conscious children's books? We're especially interested in board books because of our baby's age and destructiveness, but I'll take anything.

What I hear from other parents is that there are a few from the early pandemic with outdated info like standing 6 feet apart and cloth masks, but nothing really relevant today.

Alternately, if you want your child to care about public health, what books might help?

@skyfaller This is much too advanced for a baby or toddler, but this one is a good bet. Basher Books were my kid's absolute favorites through middle school (and frankly beyond - I got him the US Presidents one to help prepare him for his high school equivalency).

Sorry for the Amazon link. It probably used to be more widely available. But it's worth getting the book and reading it to your bebé to get them used to at least hearing the words. Note that I have not read this one; I am basing my recommendation on the previous titles Basher put out.

@skyfaller my thinking here as a covid-cautious parent is to make sure to include books that are inclusive of minorities. If you are covid cautious you will be a minority and, based on my experience (US, greater Seattle area), you will be treated with the same level of exclusion that other types of minorities are treated. I think it's important for a kid to have a strong foundation on the fact that we humans are very diverse along different axis, and that it's possible to imagine a world were those differences are embraced, not excluded.

These can be books highlighting kids from ethnic minorities, neurodivergent kids, disabled kids... libraries usually have good board books in these topics.

@skyfaller if you can't find an inclusive covid conscious book for little ones, you may want to consider the Human Body by Eyewitness Books. My sons always found something to think and talk about in the different titles. They are designed for kiddos around 6-10 ish. The illustrations and pictures may help to feed your little one's curiosity now, and to set the foundation on how our bodies work. It's a book that they could revisit over and over.
