I will assume it's because Bluesky is going down rapidly and moderation allows for transphobia and other ills - which is abhorrent (I actually posted about it a few days ago).
But of the big(ger) platforms it's also the least toxic one with a lot of good and interesting people who aren't in the fediverse.
I searched for a clip on Mastodon. Couldn't find it. The visual with the sound that accompanied it can't be properly replaced by words - and if it could, being a writer I would.
This is not lazy posting, this was a conscious decision taking multiple factors into account.
It's also a conscious decision to tell you that if you want people to change something your tone matters. Go be smug somewhere else.
Of course, use the mastodon as you see fit. It just prevents my boosting stories. Thats all. A good deal less than no bigger.

We can have a good conversation, and I'm glad we do, but that's not how you set this up.
I fully agree with you on ditching big tech but what I agitate against is the assumption that I just carelessly post things. Even more so when it's done in a throwaway line by someone who hasn't engaged with me in any way before. When you take all but two seconds to look at my profile and last few posts it's clear I certainly am not the careless person - far from it.
Starting early 2025 I have made a ridiculous amount of effort to change my entire digital environment. I'm in Europe and my tech environment is 90% European now (which is not easy to achieve). These days every single platform I use is a conscious and deliberate choice, weighing the pros and cons in each case.
But I do use Youtube and I do use Bluesky - both only passively but still. And the simple reason is that I can get content there that I can't get elsewhere. I have highly curated my feeds there to stay away from the toxicity. Where I can move away I do but it's just not always feasible.
I don't think the convenience/control trade off always applies. I ditched Twitter years ago because obviously but I haven't ditched Bluesky as not everyone is in the fediverse, but I have put very strict boundaries about my use of the platform to limit the harm I consume but also may indirectly inflict.
tldr: I respond badly to people assuming the worst even though I work very hard to do my best as is reasonably can (just look at the length of my replies for a start).
