Do we as programmers get to demand non programmers don't use LLMs for coding, like artists(rightfully) can demand and shame people who generate "art" with "AI" if it feels like a vast majority of programmers have embraced LLMs?

do we believe humans have a universal right to control and modify the software on their computer?

@wolf480pl I don't think it's right to block anyone from using it via technical means or anything similar but I do think you can ask people nicely and use social pressure

To me, if vibecoding looks attractive to non-programmers, that means we've failed them.

Like, if they didn't learn to program, that means we failed at education and at designing programming languages.

And if they cannot hire a competent programmer for a one-off job as easily as they hire a plumber, that means we've failed as a class of craftsment.

@Mae@is.badat.dev last i checked many of us are shaming programmers for using LLMs for coding, let alone non-programmers

myself, i just think the shame approach isn't working outside of some very specific sub-communities, in programming
    or in art
