i might just be a shitty exclusivist type of person but I don't really like the type of advertising and promotion Linux is getting lately. Almost all the videos are titled "You need to switch to Linux now!" or some derivative and, much like snake oil, they sell Linux as an all problem fixing tool, disregarding some basic aspects that really throw people off.

And i especially don't like the promotion of distros like CachyOS and Omarchy (setting aside DHH). Nobody should recommend anything Arch based for a beginner. CachyOS may solve some issues, but it also introduces a lot more bugs and problems by making Arch "easier" (one example is packagekit and i even broke some installs because of it). Bazzite is very good, Linux Mint is very good and the "customisations" that Cachy offers don't really make a difference, Linux mostly works the same, no matter what modules you enable or modify. Pop_OS! if system76 worked a bit more on it would also be a great great gaming distro.

That's just how I feel. I love that Linux is growing but the thing is that there are many Linux distros that cater to different people and throwing newbies onto something arch based does more harm than good when there are alternatives (fedora, Ubuntu based)
