I was a Ruby engineer for 8 years, and had written complex libraries for internal projects. I had to google argument order for common standard lib functions at least once a week. It’s ok just not to know sometimes. At every level, curiosity and humility always win.
@mellowfish That’s a beautiful sentiment, but in professional environments coworkers aren’t always as polite and courteous. When Stack Overflow was dominant, asking questions there was a last resort because of the toxic culture.
@TheCodeLorax yeah, I am well aware. I guess I’m just agreeing with both original posts about how that *should not* be the case. I’ve been blessed to work mostly for healthier orgs.
@mellowfish I 100% agree that it *should not*, but in my experience it definitely *is* the case.
