Exactly one year ago, I was waiting for an ambulance because my left leg kept buckling when I tried to get up to get to the bathroom. My left hand was floppy, and the left side of my face felt weird, like Novocain was wearing off.

It started before midnight. I kept muttering “this is ridiculous.” I lost valuable time and missed the window for a medication that could have helped my recovery.
