It’s insane how much we rely on telecoms services working 100% of the time for absolutely everything, or else it all grinds to a halt. During that outage that AM/FM radio became the only connection to the outside world. Unlike the Internet (or even television), you can’t pick and choose the information you want; you have to sit through whatever programmes the station is scheduled to broadcast and just hope the news comes up next.
