Today I found out that @tudelft has an open catalog of free books on all kinds of interesting topics, including but not limited to #urbanism : https://books.open.tudelft.nl/home/catalog
Plenty of new stuff to be reading, neat!
Update: Scribus doesn't want to do spot colors called "White" (needed for white ink prints) because some standard color is already called that. Exporting with a dummy name and afterwards using a pdf parser written in Python to change any occurrence of the dummy name to "White" seems to have given the spot color channel the correct name.
Let's see if it is the correct format for the printing company 😎
How to get a #spotColor in pdf? Trying to get something printed with white ink on black paper has me in stitches again. I am trying to get a spot color in a PDF file WITHOUT using Adobe software.
Tried scribus, online tools, nothing. How on earth can colors for printing be a proprietary thing! I am waiting on #OpenPrinter but I don't think that they'll be doing white on black printing (logically, it is a niche thing).
I remember why I don't like designing for print. Shame. Tips welcome 🫠
@pluralistic Hmmm maybe now that the #icc is under American threat this is the right moment to repeal #article6 of the European copyright directive and start the #disenshittification of our products? What are they going to do, threaten to tarief and invade us? 🇪🇺🇳🇱
Launching their new social network, W, a group in the EU posted a map of where other social networks are hosted. It showed nothing in Europe.
But their map is wrong.
Here's what Mastodon actually looks like, and what the Fediverse as a whole actually looks like.
And another Laptop saved from landfill :D #linuxMint #endOf10 @Endof10
Valve might be on to a win^4 situation if they would be able to offer accessible conversion to #SteamOS for Windows 10 devices which are not eligible for the update to the new spying 11 thing. Heck, even for my eligible devices I would consider it.
And yes we as consumers should in the long term move to #Linux or another open source OS, but not everyone is comfortable with a command line and fixing drivers in safe mode.
Would've loved to join #WOInActie to protest the Draconian cuts in the Dutch higher education sector, but I have to work to pay off my #StudentDebt
There is some really cool stuff to be found in public data. This time a #pdok #infrared map, provided free of charge (alongside tons of other great maps) by the Dutch government.
View it for yourself here: https://app.pdok.nl/viewer/#x=250756.53&y=475878.62&z=8.0363&background=BRT-A%20standaard&layers=d7a395a2-8673-4794-a5a6-fed6492cd580;Actueel_ortho25IR
If you can't get enough, you can also check out Atlas van de Leefomgeving for tonnes of great datasets. Free to use for the betterment of our built environment.
And I'm not procrastinating, I work with this stuff for a living 😍 #neat
