#Scam #Alert: There's another wave of "Registration/Verification" scams going on right now. I've suspended several today.
Mastodon admins will *never* message you to go click links or other shit like that to fix/save/unblock/verify/etc your account.
Any account with variations on "helper", "notification", "verification", and so on in their name are almost certainly a scam.
Report them.
...how do you have a "Renewal Opening" of a graveyard?
Never change, Japan. Never change.

Apparently Mastodon could become a major player in social media like Xitter, if those darn administrators wouldn’t keep blocking Russian bots 🫤
Ukraine blows up Russian data centres and immediately and mysteriously online talk about Germany’s Far Right AfD virtually disappears.
Stop Putin you stop the Far Right.
All the editors of Elsevier's _Games and Economic Behavior_ just resigned in protest at Elsevier's firing of one editor and attempt to hire new editors without involving the current board. The Game Theory Society is cutting off its association with the journal, and "exploring the establishment of a journal under its ownership and governance, committed to scholarly excellence, editorial independence, and #OpenAccess."
If the society and/or resigning editors launch a new OA journal, I'll add this case to #OpenAccessDirectory list of journal #DeclarationsOfIndependence

For more photos of the ML10 chip and an explanation of how it works (it uses a "state variable filter"), see my latest article:

Thanks to @CuriousMarc for providing the chip.
@simon_brooke In plain English: The United States, at the behest of Israel, is prosecuting a court created specifically to prosecute a crime Israel is committing with full US support and funding.
This is like a mafia boss going after a judge in chart of a case against him. The only difference is the magnitude of the crime in question.
Machinarium is coming back after 17 years!
And that's okay, because it's never too late to come back.
Some adventures are worth waiting for ❤️
We're taking the bus into Naha today. Have lunch, go to the movies and do a bit of shopping. Mostly enjoying the clear late summer weather.
Everyone we know thinks we're weird for taking the bus instead of driving. But it really is much nicer. No circling around trying to find a parking space, no keeping track of time until we need to return. And with the cost of parking it's really no cheaper either.

The US is going to impose new sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC). These sanctions would prevent companies from providing services to the ICC.
Dutch newspaper @NRC wrote an article a month ago about IT suppliers of the ICC, such as @ProcoliX , who worry about getting hit by US sanctions as well.

holy shit I got a free NordVPN subscription and their macOS client installs an endpoint kernel extension that just hangs around after an uninstall. There was a constant com.nordvpn.macos.Shield process.
I had to boot into recovery and disable SIP to get rid of it. Part of that is on macOS that it allows to install extensions but systemextensionsctl can't uninstall them.
But still, this is malware-grade behavior; especially given how sketch they are in general.
