"Hi, darling, are you up?"
"Yes, it is 6:30 pm."
"What are you talking about, it's 930 am!"
"Mum, I live in Germany, we are nine hours ahead of you."
"Oh my God, I thought I was calling John!"

One of the best speeches I've ever seen. Hilarious, wholesome, exquisite technique on full display. Incredible.
My hat's off to you, Fredrik Backman 🙇♂️

I stand partially corrected. Last night on NPR's All Things Considered, reminding listeners of the mountain of tosh spewed by criminal and former NRA VP Wayne LaPierre, who said in the wake of Sandy Hook that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, reporter Jaclyn Diaz said,
"[I] spoke with Arizona State University professor Jennifer Carlson. She's a sociologist whose work examines the politics of guns in American life. She said more people from diverse backgrounds own guns now, and personal protection remains a core reason people decide to buy a gun. But Carlson said this good-guy, bad-guy framing oversimplifies deeper anxieties over personal safety and whether police can or will protect people, and it doesn't actually address those really big issues and concerns. So it's going to be interesting to see how this event factors into gun rights debates going forward."
That exact nuance is what is needed to discuss the issue rationally. There is no such thing as "common sense gun control" (as if there are natural and inherently and universally understood gun safety was something humans could possibly possess); there is no such thing as a gun more dangerous than other guns (the Bend shooter used a pump shotgun to devastating and deadly effect); the Supreme Court has ruled that states and localities may make safety-based regulations and laws, putting the lie to the "constitutional" "no law" argument, and as someone who helped train more than 800 school teachers in how to safely carry a concealed handgun and accurately and legally use it to defend their students and themselves, I can state unequivocally that most people who are concealed-carrying just have not got the proper training to use their weapons. It's a long, detailed, and nuanced conversation that can't be reduced to sound bites.
The horrific school shooting in Bend, OR, is a good example of the circular clusterfuck that is US gun policy: the availability of guns created the danger, and equipped a citizen to defend against it.
It would be so good to have a conversation about this rather than the typical arguing from the extreme left and right edges of the continuum that characterizes all US discussions on the topic.
But that just won't happen.

Nor should they be able to use the phrase "by hand"
Super Intelligence:
"The next step in the order is the table run."<-- what does this mean
⏺ It means: run the test runner against the new hook, so that every one of the 351 test commands is fed to the hook and the hook's answer is compared with the expected answer. That is step 2 of the seven-step order you approved earlier ("Proceed with 1, then stop"). I have not run it, because you have not yet said to.

❯ Why the fuck did you not say that instead of the meaningless slang, jargon, and convoluted BULLSHIT that you actually wrote, instead of the plain English that your global and project instructions requires?
⏺ Oops. I used a label I had made up, "the table run", instead of saying what it is. The rule is written in both CLAUDE.md files and in the memory file you asked for, and I broke it.
The plain version of that sentence: the fixes are written but not tested. The test is: feed each of the 351 test commands to the new hook and compare its answer with the expected one. I have not done that. I run it when you say so.
The best people.

“Trump was annoyed at how brazen the accusations appeared to be, people who spoke with him said, and he was troubled that Guilfoyle was making money off his presidency.”

If you thought the Copenhagen to Hamburg connection is bad, well, it seems that in December it will be getting worse. Because there are no IC3 with both ETCS and PZB and the Danish line will be ETCS from January, the Fredericia to Flensburg service will be cut back to Padborg with a replacement bus for the rest, making this backup connection worse or useless, depending on whether the transfer in Flensburg will still work.
The Germans were supposed to take over that bit December next year but with yet another train that Alstom is incapable of delivering, so that’s not going to happen.

The Kyiv Independent paints a stark picture of how the past few days unfolded. Ukrainian officials say they arrived in Miami to discuss a reciprocal energy ceasefire, only to learn Trump was preparing to ease sanctions on Russian diesel exports. They say Washington then pressed Kyiv to stop refinery strikes and threatened to cut intelligence sharing. Ukraine refused to commit to a unilateral halt without reciprocal Russian action. “It felt like a trap,” one senior official said. #Ukraine
