Dutch bank ABN Amro (one of the big 3) is at risk of being hit by US sanctions, because of services it provides to the ICC.
Worst case scenario ABN AMRO would be excluded from the international banking system, which would be the "corporate death penalty" and has already caused another bank, the Amsterdam Trade Bank, to go under.

Amsterdam police seize server of Italian internet service provider A/I on US request

"A unit of the Amsterdam police on Tuesday at a data center at the Science Park in Amsterdam seized a server from the Italian internet service provider Autistici/Inventati (A/I). That happened on the basis of a U.S. legal assistance request. A copy of the server's content is now sent to the US."
Everyone needs to see this and also acknowledge why reverse engineering is a super power.

Guy reverses the dark patterns of mobile apps and publishes it, absolutely love it!
Shoot out to CBC reporter mentioning, when talking about the ICC sanctions, "switch from Microsoft to open-source software".
The US are a rogue state.
Very happy to see that European models are getting somewhat competitive again. A few years ago Mixtral was one of the more popular open models, but recently most near-frontier models seem to have come from China.
Now there is Mistral Large 4, which is close to GLM-5.3:

Weights are going to be released by the end of the month.
#NixOS infra now provides a debuginfo service at https://debuginfod.nixos.org. It lets you fetch debug symbols and source code, which is super useful for example when getting meaningful stack traces in GDB.
This works for packages that enable separateDebugInfo. The service is powered by nixseparatedebuginfod2 created by symphorien, which is available in #nixpkgs.
Very cursed optical illusion.

Google is taking increasingly long to implement and ship fixes for major issues in Android. We're having to expand our workload to include handling basic updates, testing and quality control for the entire operating system. We have rapidly growing resources and we'll handle it.
Here's our fix for the awful Android 17 QPR1 regression causing lag, stuttering and freezes:
https://gitlab.com/grapheneos/kernel_pixel_6.6/-/commit/ed5a9b87d99b45618fa55b3d6b53094cbd784b9f
It's so severe that it's causing processes to be killed for stalls. It's unclear when Google will ship a fix for the issue. December 2026 wouldn't be a surprise.

Great news! The majority of the Dutch parliament wants to ban spy glasses (e.g. Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses), except for medical purposes.
Do Meta employees even like their own Meta glasses? (In collaboration with @bitsoffreedom )
Pixel Update Bulletin for September 2026 has additional patches to standard Android platform components used by non-Pixel devices. These patches are relevant to non-Pixel devices but haven't been made available via the September 2026 Android Security Bulletin or preview patches.
@danieldk No, these are standard Android APIs included since Android 17 QPR1. These will be available through AOSP and other OEMs via Android 17 QPR2 in December 2026. It's currently exclusive to Pixels because it was released as part of Android 17 QPR1 since QPR1 and QPR3 releases are now Pixel exclusive since Android 16.
This is simply the first time they've added APIs in a QPR1 or QPR3 release following no longer releasing QPR1 and QPR3 to AOSP after the release of Android 16.
@digitaleu So are we going to support open-source vulnerability detecting AI models and fund cyber-security experts properly? (Including the cyber-security support for key open-source projects as for example GNU/Linux FreeBSD/OpenBSD systems?)
We're going to be overhauling or replacing most AOSP apps in the near future: Calculator, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Keyboard and Phone.
The apps we created will be overhauled too. PDF Viewer is done and Camera is next. Camera and PDF Viewer will be getting many new features too.
The overhauled GrapheneOS Messaging app is available in our App Store via the Alpha channel.
Our new app development team worked on this for months. It's now a far better app with much higher quality code. We'll make a new release based on feedback soon.
