It was my birthday! Great ending of the whole day of celebrating : I had a walk in the park with a friend, cakes with my niece, & activist event (quoted) where many friends gathered - by coincidence or by planning… Plus, not pictured: dance lesson, cycling & singing in the rain, many calls / messages & some presents, plus two healing/treatment appointments & more cakes. 🎂🍰🧁🍣
I’m sleep drunk now & probably typing lots of mistaken things…

We are living inside a sci-fi book. Which narrative of resistance are we going to write?
In this talk we want to open a discussion, talk about the resistance to big tech.
Which kind of alternatives are we working on?”

Over and over again the research on cooperation says: human beings are highly cooperative.
But we don't believe it. WHY?
This massive global study (over 100k participants from 125 countries!) finds we are highly cooperative *and* that we underestimate others' cooperation. The likely reason is because as a species we survive with cooperation but the costs of potentially being betrayed are so high that we are over-vigilant about the possibility. This can be MOVED
So, what did we learn?
Go visit the Balkan. It is ridiculously pretty. You might want to do it by car, though. Even if there were railways, they’d be down in the valleys. The most stunning views are from a small side road that precariously clings to a far up mountain side to get to some narrow pass.
I guess it's about time I did an introduction post here...again. I've been around, mostly lurking in the shadows, unsure of where to call home for a few years now.
I'm an old graffiti writer/artist that comes from a time when the art form was in it's infancy. Wild and free, not sanctioned and curated by council and committee. I still sketch, draw and paint traditionally from time to time but the days are growing shorter now.
While self-taught for the most part I did do some time in the formal art school environment but learned far more painting walls and trains at night in the 1980's and 90's.
As a Graphic Artist I produce ornamental and decorative art. I use both traditional and digital tools to hand draw graphic elements, letterforms, symmetric art and patterns but primarily the archetypal form of the mandala.
My vector work is all done on one layer using Affinity Designer or Inkscape through a very meditative process of experimentation and play. More and more I'm finding myself using Clip Studio or Krita these days which allows for an even more intuitive, almost neurographic process that gives a more innate style to my drawings.
Much of my older work is on Tumblr if you want to check it out but I'm going to mainly post new work here I think. I hope to have my store up and running with some downloadable and printable things soon!
Very nice to meet you!

Now maybe the thing is you want "America" to stop existing entirely as a concept. But nonetheless the people will still be there. What system(s) will they live under? What will their daily lives look like? How will they relate to one another? What do you want to build?
American self-image is clearly in crisis. But nihilism can't be a solution.

Week19 is very similar to the previous one - except that it’s THE LAST WEEK OF TREATMENTS & LAST TRIP TO LIMBURG !!!
Despite “all caps”, it’s not that dramatic - my body is still in Epen, even if my mind is thinking about the future in which that will not be happening again…
And my soul?!? Yeah, that’s the most important question - & possibly the biggest learning - trauma is not only psycho-somatic, it’s a spiritual disturbance - so the healing means balancing / aligning WITH THE SOUL too!

🚨BREAKING: Disruption of "Sustainability in Higher Education" Conference🚨
Academia should live up to its responsibility to society and convey urgency. Shouldn’t we turn academic conferences into emergency briefings? Shouldn’t we organize ourselves to face this unbearable situation together?
The @freieuniversitaet is hosting an international conference on Sustainability in Higher Education this week. Keynotes and workshops reflect on the implementation of sustainability in teaching, governance, research and communication. A sign in the good direction! Or is it really?
Right after the president of the FU Berlin opened the conference, an alarm bell rang, and two conference participants came to the podium holding a banner with the words “Act Now!”
While Matthias Grotkopp was explaining how conferences like this one are by far not enough and scientists should engage more decidedly to pressure governments to declare a climate emergency, fellow scientists from Scientist Rebellion pasted posters on the conference hall’s walls.
We demand:
University presidents together with representatives from emergency services (fire brigades, medical staff) hold a press conference and announce an emergency briefing for the new senate of Berlin explaining the expected future and adequate actions!

40C3: Call for Assemblies
https://events.ccc.de/2026/10/18/40c3-assemblies/
In the #LoResMesh project, we've just shipped a lightweight wrapper for #Kiwix that connects it to our #P2P network powered by #P2Panda.
What that means is that each of our community servers can host important website archives, and you can also search for archives that are at other nearby servers, allowing you to click through (if the internet is up), or physically go there 🚴 if the internet is down 🔥 ⛈️.
Here's our write up:

We'd love to hear what you think @kiwix.

When I hear the words “civilization” & “crisis”, I feel very triggered / inspired…
so I wrote this huge post on the https://UnCiv.nl mailing list, referring to the Nexus Conference essay, which I annotated with colorful highlights…
My main points : instead of “human” supremacy, let’s live in an ecological balance with the soil, squirrels, squids.. & let’s re-discover our connections with both the material & the spiritual worlds
Today I've been thinking about ways an open source project would be able to accept donations (that they absolutely need, in many cases) without compromising on the ethics and the project values.
Let's say you're making a cool important thing, and a megabucks corporation offers you a million (or ten, or two hundreds) USD a year in exchange for a link to their website somewhere in your PR materials (website or the thing itself). I think being open to such offers will likely have negative consequences. Maybe you'll get some bad actors trying to bribe you, and even rejecting them will have negative consequences. Maybe your old sponsor will drop "don't be evil" and will sponsor genocide. What do you do, then? How can you prepare for such an event, assuming that your project is big enough to attract such sponsors?
I can't think of anything better than only accepting anonymous donations, with some policy provisions to protect the integrity from "big sponsor threatens to stop the donations". Any other ideas?
