Some times people advertise software or assets here that have LLMs involved. That not only losses my interest, I've been getting into the habit of outright muting anyone promoting anything like that.
I'm not interested in the thing and I don't want to hear about any other thing you might have to offer potentially ever.
Most recent was some sound pack and, I swear, they had me at first half, Fedi. I was about to fave for later

All of you peasants are just whiny because you don't know how to use it! Witness a true genius at work!
-> Race condition
Oh yeah, brilliant stuff, we're surely improving things!
Was rummaging around codeberg and came across some C++ generator a random foxgirl has been angrily putting together out of sheer spite for bloat and sloppification of other generators she'd used before...
https://codeberg.org/LunarWatcher/violet
Fucking finally, some REAL internet creatures happening here. Time to check it out, might be a pretty good starting point. If nothing else it MIGHT keep me from reinventing the wheel from first principles
We're back to ground zero: looking for a static site generator that isn't slop. At this point might was well fucking hand craft every single page, I dunno.... Or maybe fuck generators entirely, just deploy one Godot WASM app or something?
I know there's some Python stuff around but I was hoping to have my generator not break every other month too.... <SIGHING INTENSIFIES>
The only problem with the whole:
Come home
have a shower
animu with the waifu
eat dinner
mash for 3 hours
is that after all that mashing I need to shower again. Don't want to get that gamer aroma
GGs @NaClKnight et al
Guess it's about bloody time I started some warmup, huh, @NaClKnight ? Even if I'm getting crushed, gotta get crushed in style at least, LOL
It's now over 30 hours later and we have not seen this guy again.
I would love to believe he just evicted himself but that sounds unfortunately unlikely
There was also this tiny guy inside the kitchen window. Seems to be a regular webbing type with the long needle like legs. Yet again with them horny pedipalps, it seems.
The audacity to be looking for hot singles in MY area
It's really annoying to wake up to find yet another giant house spider inside. It's doubly so when instead of being weirdly sluggish, THIS guy is honouring the family name. Saw the catch cup coming, dropped from the wall and ran, presumably under the TV unit.
Why are there so many fucking Rogers this year? I've caught and released 4 or 5 and had them run on me twice now.... Last year I think I saw a total one one plus a corpse on the basement
All right... After updating the TV I was able to actually update the TV. This finally enabled me to update the TV, which I'm doing now
Update: oh hell yeah! We've for another one!
Edit: but wait, there's more!
I wonder if it'll every stop being amusing to hop onto a bus or a train and go "oh yeah, public transport! This shit's pretty cool!" Solely on account of having lost the habit from how much I've been just biking instead
And, hey. 99% of the memtest passed with no errors. Was pretty sure of this one as I think I did this check when the unmounting issue first started (literally overnight). Still, any reassurance is welcome
There was a lot of it and I didn't have a brush at hand or anything.
But it's not looking good. I just want the computer to work, y'know. I don't even do weird shit with this one.
From the NAS' journey of discovery I DO have a spare motherboard but it is mATX instead and the case won't fit it. So testing that is possible but very much a pain. And while I have a spare CPU, that's known bad. REALLY hoping to not have to go down THAT rabbit hole.
Well, breakfast time I guess
All the time coming from the sata interface.
Grub installed allegedly correctly but first boot couldn't mount stuff? But then it went through on the second try but hung when loading KDE....
Couldn't get the graphical interface running properly even once.
As I sit here letting it memtest just to tick the box, I do think there's are two other things to be wary here. The data cable could just be bad (dd was done over USB using an external enclosure) or it could be dust on the mobo header [+1]
I lay the dirt on my suspicions with this motherboard to contextualise the most recent thing.
Still thinking the NVMe is the likely culprit, I've decided to experiment. Still have that 4TB plate so, overnight, I've dd'd the NVMe onto it and swapped them around.
I've used the disk for a ton of backups recently so it should be fine but once running the system.... It's not going well. Booting the arch install terminal just to chroot and run the grub install again, it was spitting out errors [+1]
Some times it just outright fails to POST. Nothing even comes up. This is the most common one. Just press the button until it does.
But also, after going through grub and whatnot, the graphical driver may fail to load properly but the rest of the system seems to go on anyway? So I lose all output during the handover.
Always hated both of these issues but neither is a show stopper, once the machine is up, it's up. And with those specs, it's a pretty beefy machine too.
[+1]
This caused the problem to happen almost immediately and seemed to normalise once I caught and fixed this. But I've kept an eye on those temps too and, outside of that, they've been well behaved.
I've recently had a CPU go bad on the NAS so this could be a repeat.... But I'm also suspicious of this motherboard.
It's a Gigabyte X570 itx board which has given me problems for years. Whenever I press power, there's a chance my PC will turn on. Not a guarantee because it can fail in two places [+1]
Even if I manage to get to a terminal before the computer finishes locking up, I can't even reboot or shutdown because those executables can't be found.
I thought for a while that this was an overheating issue with the NVMe and have gone through some nonsense to try and work around that but this had also happened when I was logging and found temps to be pretty cool.
I also had one interesting data point where the CPU fan got blocked by the mount of the additional fan I jury rigged in [+1]
Hardware woes continue over here.... The gaming rig is not doing so well.
This machine is not super new but by no means ancient.
Ryzen 3600X Zen2, 32 gigs of RAM, a Radeon 6900XT...
It also has a 4TB NVMe that appears to be dying on me. It's pretty weird, the computer runs fine if I'm doing light stuff such as watching videos or playing FTL but if I'm doing anything more taxing, at some point, the root file system drops entirely.
The whole thing seemingly unmounts and at that point [+1]
People from the work I'm finishing up, who I'm doing the selection process for "totally another job, don't worry about it" with have called me for the second round interview.
It's a face-to-face interview scheduled for... my last day at work on the timeslot where I would normally have the regular weekly team meeting
Guess we're skipping the meeting, then.
It took some effort to stop laughing at the cheekyness. Never let anyone try to trick you into thinking Germans aren't hilarious.
