Hey, @EUCommission, fuck you too.

On Wednesday, EU Member States approved a change to the GDPR that would put the profit-making interests of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and SpaceX over European's fundamental right to data protection. According to the approved text, processing personal data “in the context of AI” should automatically be lawful. In particular, Big Tech would be able to use all personal data collected over the past decades with virtually no restrictions, as long as this happens “in the context” of AI. Schrems: “Under the agreed text, the profits of AI companies would typically trump European’s fundamental right to privacy. This is nothing but a digital expropriation of Europeans.”

Dianna Cowern aka Physics Girl on getting "a very mild" case of COVID19, and becoming disabled with LongCOVID as a result.

It's been four years, Dianna is still disabled, and most doctors still don't accept LongCOVID as a real diagnosis, much less agree on a treatment.

Worth listening to (or reading the transcript, if that works better for you)

This is hilarious: Trump's new fraud hotline

instantly turned against him. The DOJ offered up to $30,000 for fraud tips. Within hours, activists flooded it with fraud accusations about Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, every member of his Cabinet, and Donald Trump himself.

Thank you to everyone using Trump's 'fraud' hotline to demand accountability where we need it most.

Made sure it made its way across the cycle path before I left.

My bizarre and unrelatable reclusiveness brings all the Passeriformes to the yard.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the fucking unbelievably talented writers on this show? Almost four fucking decades and they still make me laugh until I'm in tears, just like Bart laughing and Itchy & Scratchy.

Apu made his long-awaited return for a Halloween-styled episode (I can't remember if it was an official "Treehouse of Horror" one or not) and he was introduced as the masked villain in Halloween costume who it turned out was murdered by the entire town.

I recognized the mask/helmet/whatever the fuck you call the Daft Punk headgear. But I didn't even notice the robe he was wearing.

It wasn't until Apu stated that his costume was "Daft Monk" that I made the connection. It caught me by surprise like a 2x4 to the face.

Daft. Monk.

Fucking brilliant. Why the fuck didn't I think of that??

I laughed until I was in tears.

The Simpsons are like comfort food for me. Eight hundred episodes. Sure, not every episode resulted in belly laughs, but just about every one of them made me smile.

When they finally go off the air eventually, that's going to be a gut-punch for me and I suspect a lot of other GenX/Xennials/Millennials.

“With tRump, always assume the pettiest, most vain, pathetic, wriggling urges and you're probably close to what he's thinking."

Endless, rampant hypocrisy.

— ‘California is one of 24 states that has automatic voter registration – a system in which people are automatically registered when they interact with certain state agencies unless they opt out.

Several people who were arrested in the California case this week have expressed confusion about the charges – one saying he mistakenly thought he could vote; another saying she had no recollection of registering to vote as the authorities had alleged; and another flatly denying voting as authorities had alleged.

Democracy and constitutional law experts said it was extraordinary for the federal government to launch a heavy-handed operation to detain someone accused of a nonviolent voting offense and stunning to see the justice department directly release a propaganda-style video of the arrest, particularly before the defendant has even been indicted.’

And there it is. Precisely what we knew was coming.

This post in particular is really telling. It's saying - don't expect Democrats to simply right the wrongs. What Republicans take away in 4 years you must expect to spend 20 years to restore, fighting Democrats the whole way.

Trump’s Justice Department filed a preemptive lawsuit to block a possible Democratic win in Alaska’s Senate race.

It’s a dramatic escalation, which comes a month after Trump publicly directed AG Todd Blanche to pursue the matter.
