Updated intro post!
What do you need to know, that's not already in my profile?
Trans stuff:
My egg cracked in July 2023, and I started HRT on Hallowe'en of that year, like a good little goth girl. One day I'll be somebody's big tiddy goth GF. One day.
For now, I'm available to be a smol tiddy GGF.
I'm transfem, but agender. That's why I answer to she/her, but normally refer to myself as a person, rather than as a woman. Transition, to put it lightly, has not taken me where I expected it to.
HRT literally caused part of my brain to finish developing, deep in middle age. When I say that something is "now a thing I can do," I mean it in the most literal sense. I'm not talking about learning how, or getting permission. I mean that I didn't have the capability, in the same way that somebody without legs doesn't have the capability to walk.
I have to labour this point, because I often get responses like "oh yeah, that got a lot easier for me, too." No, it didn't become easier - it became possible.
It's also becoming easier now, but in the sense that walking would become easier over the couple of years after you abruptly sprouted legs. It's an exciting time for me.
General stuff:
I love to share what I've learned, and I'm autistic. Feel free to ask about things I know, but brace yourself because I will infodump. Ask me to expand on something, and I'll infodump all over again. This may or may not be what you want.
I used to work in IT infrastructure. Now I'm learning to be the artist and musician I always wanted to be, while quietly doing some things around knowledge-management.
A design principle that I need to remind myself of every time* I build some automation:
Don't build for relaxed operation on a calm day after a good night's sleep, with plenty of time for preparation.
Build for emergency operation under confusing circumstances, after being woken up at 3am, after a long hard day. With an angry CEO on the conference call.
*Yes, every time. I've lost count of the "throwaway scripts" and "one-time temporary hacks to get us through" that became long-serving operational components.
Jamming against a drum machine with fretless bass + delay: microtiming and microtuning that could make a listener seasick :)
I'm just going to start blocking people who say "bullying (people I don't like) is good."
To restate: if you're punching up, it's not bullying. Pick a different word.
"Bullying" is punching down against people who can't fight back. If that's what you're proud of, I'm here to throw you under the next available bus.
