@evan yes because we should care about the world we live in and share with our neighbors and future generations…

…but reading the annual attempts companies that trash the place on the regular make to greenwash their impacts raises my blood pressure.

@evan Not once I realized it's corporate fluff. Same as orgs having pride flags as profile photos, where those same orgs were happy enough to throw LGBTQ+ folks under the bus when it was fiscally/politically expedient.

I do everything I can within my small sphere of influence to help the environment, and I just hope that provides a positive influence for my kids.

@evan Vermont has a Greenup Day which is soon. They offer green trash bags and people go out, pick up trash that the melting snow has revealed. You leave the bags by the roadside when they're full, town picks the trash up and disposes of it. The bags were available this week so I spent (some of) the day picking up trash.

@evan It feels merely performative, similar to Buy Nothing Day or Christmas. You pick one day (or one hour) to do something small that doesn't touch the real problem, and shift the 'bad actions' to the days surrounding.

I know, I know, *awareness* but anyone who's unaware at this point isn't going to have a Scrooge style redemption because someone turned their lights off for an hour.

Let's turn off the AI data centres for an hour to turn some heads.
