Execution is not sport. Execution is not entertainment.

Do not equate public executions with justice. You have no moral authority to do so. None.

A close friend was brutally murdered 30 years ago. Her home where she was killed was released to us after the police were through. At this moment 30 years later, I can still remember stepping over the threshold I had stepped over a thousand times before, to smell her dried blood, and see the surreal white fingerprint dust everywhere. It is frozen forever for me as a crisp and broken autumn day.

Her murder was not entertainment, not sport, the suffering of her loving survivors are not props and memes for anonymous yahoos to use to claim a right they have not earned, to false justice by taking another life as public spectacle. Those who do, perpetrate another crime against us.

During a Trump era were decency, civility, ethics, morality, and respect are routinely trashed, we have to demand more, to demand better. This cannot continue to stand.

@pattykimura Whilst I agree that public exposure of it is inhumane, the real inhumanity is in having a death penalty in the first place. The level of increase in this is not that great. Civilised countries stopped doing it a while ago.

@UkeleleEric My murdered friend did, as I do, opposed capital punishment as barbarism, as itself murder in my name. As continuing testament to the goodness of her life, I continue to oppose it, as her living legacy.
