I was looking to add a new node to my #Proxmox cluster, but memory is crazy expensive.
I checked how much I paid for 64 GB of DDR4 SO-DIMM two and a half years ago: 183 CAD, or 114 €! Now, it costs almost six times as much. I should have ordered more…
By the way, it’s less expensive in Canada than in Europe…
So I’ve put off adding my new node… 😢
Maybe that’s better for the environment 🌍 😉

@happyborg Maybe too much stuff 😉
@happyborg I split all my services in many VM and LXC. This use more memory. Adding some service use lot of memory, like OpenWebUI (when is used), Node Red,…
@lucas3d I’m so glad I bought all I needed last year.
But if something dies, it’s gonna hurt.
@pax0707 Yep, same here, I hope nothing died too 🤞
@lucas3d yeah that's a real pain in the *** thanks to the memory cartel. I personally stopped adding new services: most of them are vibecoded from forks and doesn't really do something that has never been done before… Good if you want to test them in staging env for a couple weeks and wiped them. Thus I'm less dependent on memory now. My kubernetes is the big guy I'm working to slowdown on storage though.
